Last week we talked about inspiring our learners with a strong call for action. A call to action what they have learnt in your modlette.
Circle back A circle is a simple closed shape; it’s balanced. So circling back to your introduction gives your modlette a finished and balanced feel.
How? Communicate a powerful image that symbolises your learning in your opening, and go back to this image in your closing lines
I often write articles about making training narrative engaging through vivid writing. One I wrote, the opening paragraph talks about your training message standing out like a bright red rose in a sea of grey content. In the closing paragraph I repeated this image.
Engage Your Learners
How often do we read content that captures our imagination and memory? How often are we really inspired by a training narrative?
Life is too short for monotone voices. Life is too short for whimpy writing. Life is too short to regurgitate ideas without adding value. It’s time to unleash your fun side, infuse your content with your personality, and dazzle your learners with your words. Come on. Dare to be the red rose shining brightly in an ocean of grey content. Let your learnings sparkle, shimmer, sing, swing, swirl, shock and sizzle.
You are the eLearning designer your learners are waiting for.Get ready to spark change in their lives.
Closing Option 3: Remind Learners why they should care
We all know that change can be hard.
How can we encourage our learners to roll up their sleeves and implement our learning? Tell them why they should care. How will their efforts change their learner’s lives? How will they have more confidence in their working lives? How will they be happier in their jobs?
The paragraph below, for instance, is the closing of a modlette with 6 tips for presenting training in a conversational style.
To encourage designers to do the hard work of editing, they’re reminded why a conversational style is powerful:
Embrace the power of your voice.Do you ever think back to a conversation you had with a friend? Do you hear their voice in your head?
That’s how learners should experience your content. Let your words linger in their minds. Inspire them long after they’ve read your words. In a world of endless pixels and meaningless likes, we crave human connections and voices that resonate with us.
So, be yourself. Get yourself a coffee. Set the mood for a conversation over coffee and cake. And have a cosy chat.
